Resume example

Software Engineer resume example.

Software engineering resumes get skimmed by both a recruiter and an ATS parser before a human engineer ever reads one, so the bar is structure and specificity: what you shipped, what stack you used, and what changed because you did it. This example follows a mid-level engineer with about four years of experience across two companies — use it as a starting point for your own bullets, then swap in your own stack, metrics, and history.

  • No sign-up
  • Resume data never uploaded

What reviewers look for

  • Bullets that name the outcome first, not just the task — "reduced" and "cut" beat "responsible for"
  • A visible, current tech stack, since most screening starts as a keyword match against the job post
  • Evidence of ownership: did you design something, or just implement someone else's ticket?
  • Consistent, unambiguous dates — gaps and vague date ranges are one of the fastest ways to get filtered out

Lead every bullet with impact

"Cut page load time by 40%" tells a recruiter more in three seconds than a paragraph describing the refactor that got you there.

Name your stack explicitly

Most ATS software and most recruiters' first pass is a keyword match — if you used React and Postgres, say React and Postgres, not "modern web technologies."

Keep it to one page

At the mid-level, two solid roles with sharp bullets outperform five roles skimmed thin. Cut anything more than 6-8 years old.
